Nap Time: Valentine Toffee Bars

If you are looking for a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day without a lot of chocolate or red hots, AND you want something that can be made quickly during nap time then you must try these!

Valentine Toffee Bars are something I made based on the popular cracker bark recipes used at Christmas time. They take 20 minutes or less to do. Perfect to make during nap time and still have plenty of time for whatever else you need to do!

Here is what you will need:
3 cups puffed wheat cereal
1 1/2 cup butter (3 sticks)
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
coconut as desired
chocolate chips as desired
get creative with your toppings!

Now get started:

Preheat oven to 350.

Line a baking sheet with foil. Spread the cereal on the baking sheet and set aside.

In a small saucepan, throw in the 3 sticks of butter and brown sugar. Blend on a medium heat, stirring almost constantly. Remove from heat once toffee mixture is well blended and bubbly.

Pour the mixture slowly over the puffed wheat cereal. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect; the next step will help make the toffee mixture spread evenly throughout the sheet.

Now put the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee mixture is bubbling throughout. Sprinkle your toppings over the top while toffee is still bubbly. To help make toppings stick onto the bars, press lightly with a spatula or back of large spoon.

Allow to cool then place entire pan in the freezer for at least an hour. You do not have to put them in the freezer, but I have found that freezing the bars makes it especially easily to remove the foil lining and cut the bars with smooth edges.

And that is it! These are so easy to get creative with. Share it with us on our Facebook page, or feel free to !
